How to adapt the security settings of Opera 9

Opera 9 allows the user to define site-specific settings. Users who want to ensure maximum security should therefore disable the display of all active content - such as Java, JavaScript or plug-ins - as well as cookies by pressing the F12 key to access the "Quick preferences".

This is how an Opera configuration looks when the highest degree of security is selected. Click on "Edit site preferences..." to open the dialog window to define detailed settings for the current site.

If users experience problems when viewing a trusted site, they can enable the required technologies by also pressing F12 and then selecting "Edit site preferences..." to enable Java, JavaScript, plug-ins etc., for the currently displayed site (the site that the browser is displaying).

The site settings for JavaScript even allow users to specify what actions scripts are allowed to take.
