SystemRescueCd 1.6.0 released

SystemRescueCd 1.6.0 includes version 4.6.2 of the Xfce lightweight desktop. The SystemRescueCd developer and Partimage author François Dupoux has released version 1.6.0 of the SystemRescueCd Linux distribution. Based on the Gentoo LiveCD and using Xfce as its default desktop, the SystemRescueCd is configured as a tool kit for administering or repairing an operating system and recovering data after a system crash. Supported file systems include Ext2, Ext3 and Ext4, ReiserFS, XFS, JFS, VFAT, NTFS, ISO9660 and Btrfs.

SystemRescueCd 1.6.0 uses either the 2.6.35.4. or as an alternative. the 2.6.32.21 Linux kernel and features version 4.6.2 of the Xfce desktop environment. Keymaps have been added in the ISOLINUX boot loader and Kernel Mode-Setting (KMS) drivers for Intel and AMD Radeon graphics chips are now included. Package updates include Partimage 0.6.9, version 2010.8.8 of the NTFS-3G read/write NTFS driver, the latest 0.6.2 release of the GNOME Partition Editor (GParted) and Firefox 3.6.9. X.org's X Server is also upgraded to version 1.8.2.
