digiKam Logo The digiKam development team has released version 2.2.0 of the open source KDE image organiser. The update includes 36 bug fixes that prevent several application crashes and compilation errors. It also corrects problems with digiKam's face recognition, import and export of images, and layout errors.

Alongside digiKam is its partner set of Kipi-plugins, the new version of which includes fixes for 13 bugs and a new tool to assemble images together that was developed during the Season of KDE 2011 (SoK). Kipi-plugins took part in SoK with the aim of providing software to create photo layouts and collages. Both digiKam and Kipi-plugins also include metadata support in image titles.

More information on the release can be found in the changelog. Version 2.2.0 of digiKam is available to download from the project's site. Hosted on SourceForge, digiKam is licensed under the GPLv2.
