digiKam Logo The digiKam development team has released version 1.4.0 of its open source advanced digital photo management application. The latest update adds a new feature under the AdvancedRename option and addresses a number of bugs found in the previous version.

digiKam 1.4.0 features a new "Remove Doubles" modifier to remove duplicate items and fixes an issue that caused the program to crash when opening the configuration options. Other changes include corrections for tags, comments and authors not being written to metadata, an issue that would cause images to vanish from an album after being renamed and various usability changes. The developers have also released version 1.4.0 of the Kipi plug-ins – the plug-ins update is essentially a bug fix release.

More details about the release can be found in the release announcement. Version 1.4.0 of digiKam is available to download from the project's web site and is licensed under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
