digiKam Logo The digiKam development team has released version 2.1 of its open source digital photo management application. This first point update to the 2.x branch of the digiKam Software Collection features the addition of a new panorama tool, a result of this year's Google Summer of Code (GSoC) event.

With the tool, users can stitch together multiple images to create large panoramas; a guide on how to create panoramas is available on Mohamed Malik's blog. Other changes include updates to the Kipi plug-ins and fixes for more than 50 bugs.

More details about the release, including screenshots, can be found in a post on the digiKam blog. Version 2.1 of the digiKam Software Collection is available to download from the project's site. Hosted on SourceForge, digiKam is licensed under the GPLv2.
