Ubuntu Tweak 0.7.0 supports Precise Pangolin
Ubuntu Tweak project founder and lead developer Tualatrix Chou has released version 0.7.0 of his open source application for customising the Ubuntu Linux distribution. The Ubuntu Tweak tool allows users to customise their installations by changing a number of desktop and system options for which settings are not provided in the default Unity environment.
As its "Precise Tweak" code name implies, the new version of the software adds support for the recent Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" release as well as several new features, such as additional Unity and Workspace settings. The user interface is now said to be more polished and a search function has been added to quickly find specific settings. The Login Settings for customising the appearance and behaviour of the login screen have been updated, including the ability to change the login screen background and theme, and to toggle the login sound.
Other changes include a QuickLists Editor to edit the Unity Launcher, and improvements to the Janitor tool for scanning and cleaning up temporary files in various caches. A number of features aimed at administrators that were added to Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.0 but removed in the last 0.6.0 release have also returned: App Centre, Source Centre, Templates and Scripts.
A full list of these and other changes and new features can be found in the announcement blog posting and in the change log. Ubuntu Tweak 0.7.0 is available to download as a .deb file for Ubuntu 11.10 or later. Source code for Ubuntu Tweak is hosted on Launchpad and is licensed under the GPLv2.
