Ubuntu logo The Ubuntu development team has announced that the Ubuntu Developer Week for the 12.04 "Precise Pangolin" cycle will take place from 31 January to 2 February 2012. Over the course of the three days, contributors and members of the Ubuntu community will present various online workshops including tutorials and hands-on sessions focused on Ubuntu development.

The virtual sessions will cover topics such as getting started with Ubuntu development, packaging, quality assurance and bug fixing, and writing code, as well as "Ubuntu projects and Ubuntu in the bigger picture". There will also be Q&A sessions in which attendees can ask developers questions about, for example, automated testing. According to Ubuntu Developer Daniel Holbach, speakers from 15 countries, including the UK, Germany, South Africa and the US, will be taking part.

Ubuntu Developer Week will take place online in IRC (Internet Relay Chat) chat rooms. Instructions how to connect to the freenode IRC network and to the #ubuntu-classroom for Ubuntu Developer Week are provided on the Joining In wiki page.

Further information, including a full timetable, is available in an announcement post on the Ubuntu developer mailing list, on the Ubuntu Developer Week wiki and on the Sessions page.
