OWF The OW2 and the Open Solutions Alliance (OSA) consortia are to merge. The news was announced at the Open World Forum, which opened its doors yesterday and will continue to bring together IT decision-makers and open source experts and luminaries in Paris today.

The Open Solutions Alliance has been involved in promoting the spread and interoperability of open source software since 2007. The group includes companies such as Unisys, Ingres, EnterpriseDB, JasperSoft, Openbravo, Talend and Black Duck. The OW2 Consortium, also founded in 2007, is a group of open source middleware, EAI, clustering and grid computing software vendors.

By combining their strength, the two organisations hope to be better able to champion the global spread of open source software in business, the public sector and in educational institutions. The OSA and OW2 have members in Europe, America and Asia.
