Openbravo open-source ERP software made modular

Openbravo, the Spanish developer of professional open source solutions for businesses, has released version 2.5 of its open-source ERP suite. The modular concept introduced with this release is aimed at enabling developers and clients to create additional functions as modules, so fine-tuning the ERP software to meet their wishes better, but without having to change the suite itself. Other new things in Openbravo 2.5 are support for right-to-left languages like Arabic, an autosave function, and improved support for complex organizations.

The Pamplona software firm has also redesigned the support it provides. The Openbravo Network, for instance, is now called the Openbravo Professional Subscription. Although previously the firm focused primarily on small and medium-sized clients, for whom it designed the SMB Edition, the Enterprise Edition now also provides a cluster-capable version of the software.

Openbravo software was originally based on an early version of the ERP and CRM product by Compiere. The suite contains components for procurement, production planning and administration, inventory control for production processes, project and service management, and Customer Relations Management (CRM), and now includes Business Intelligence functionality such as multidimensional analyses (On-line Analytical Processing, OLAP) and reporting. The suite is covered by the Openbravo Public License, a slightly modified version of the Mozilla Public License (MPL).
