GroundWork logo GroundWork Open Source, a provider of open source network management solutions has launched a beta version of MonitoringForge, a site that allows administrators to compare the various offerings for network control software. Users of the site can search for projects and plug-ins, share their opinions and findings and suggest ideas to the MonitoringForge community.

The site also offers developers the opportunity to present their projects to the community and, if needs be, provides hosting for their project, with features such as subversion repository, download package management, license management, screen shot galleries, wikis and documentation support. The site has been launched with 1,700 projects and plug-ins already listed. Tara Spalding, vice president of Marketing for GroundWork Open Source said “All projects are welcome on MonitoringForge. The more participation, the better understanding users will have of what open source monitoring can do". As of writing, the top five projects on MonitoringForge were OpsView, mrtg, NagVis, Nagios and WMI agentless plug-ins.
