The Yorba Foundation has released new versions of its Shotwell photo manager application and the Geary email client. Yorba is a California-based organisation, which has applied for but not yet received 501(c)(3) status, with a mission to develop and improve open source software.

Shotwell 0.14 includes several improvements to its RAW processing workflow, replaces the obsolete REST API for Facebook with a new connector that supports the Facebook Graph API, and adds more slideshow transition effects. A folder tree for Shotwell's sidebar that shows the location of images on the disk is also new. The developers have fixed a number of bugs, including when handling and exporting images in various formats. A complete list of all fixed issues is available on the Shotwell issue tracker.

Geary 0.3, the latest version of Yorba's relatively new email client, adds support for multiple accounts and the ability to edit account information. Users can now also mark messages as important or flag them as spam. Another addition is that the application now marks messages as read when the user scrolls past them in the conversations window; Geary can now also highlight unread messages in the same window. A number of bugs have been fixed as well.

Shotwell 0.14 and Geary 0.3 are available from the Yorba wiki. Both projects are licensed under the LGPLv2.1. Ubuntu users can install Yorba's software from a dedicated PPA.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated Yorba Foundation already had 501(c)(3) tax status.
