Shotwell photo manager adds new search bar

Shotwell Logo The Yorba development team has announced the arrival of version 0.9.0 of its Shotwell photo manager for the GNOME desktop. According to the developers, this latest update brings a number of improvements over the previous version and adds new features.

Version 0.9 of the digital photo organiser features the addition of a new search bar that lets users filter by media type, rating and text. Support for the TIFF image format is now built-in and an extensible plug-in framework for web publishing and slideshow transitions is also included.

Other changes include improved rendering of underexposed RAW photos, added import options, and various bug fixes. Additionally, users can now edit multiple photo titles at once, as well as print multiple photos and multiple photos per page.

Pre-compiled binaries of Shotwell 0.9.0 are available to download for Fedora, Ubuntu and Windows and documenation is provided. Shotwell is the default photo manager in Fedora and Ubuntu 10.10, and its source code is licensed under version 2.1 of the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL v2.1).
