The WordPress developers have announced the release of version 1.3.4 of their WordPress for Android app. Using the mobile application, users can easily post to and edit their WordPress blogs from an Android mobile device.

The latest version of WordPress for Android includes a new comment notification feature. Now, when users receive a new comment on their WordPress blog, they will see the text of the comment in the Android notification bar at the top of their display. Additionally, when selected, users can go directly into the app to moderate the comment without needing to refresh the Comments view.

Other changes include improved multi-language support, more reliable previewing of blog posts and fixes for the Mobile Theme option and an issue that caused the app to crash when the data connection changed during a process. The developers also note that, as the post view fix "wasn’t working so well on non Froyo devices", with version 1.3.4 they have addressed the issue and released version 1.3.5.

More details about the release can be found in the official release announcement. WordPress for Android 1.3.5 is available to download via the Android Market and supports both WordPress.com and self-hosted blogs, requiring WordPress 2.7 or later. Like WordPress, it is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). Users interested in contributing to the application are encouraged to do so via the WordPress for Android project developer portal.
