The WordPress developers have announced the release of version 1.3.8 of their WordPress for Android app. Using the mobile application, users can easily post to, and edit, their WordPress blogs from an Android mobile device.

In what the developers call a "Should have added that a long time ago" moment, WordPress for Android 1.3.8 now allows users to set the post or page status from within the app. This means that users creating or editing content can now select a status of Draft, Pending Review, Private or Publish for each post. Other changes in the update include various bug fixes for issues that caused the app to crash, as well as translation updates.

Further details about the update can be found in a post on the WordPress for Android blog by Dan Roundhill. WordPress for Android 1.3.8 is available to download via the Android Market and supports both WordPress.com and self-hosted blogs, requiring WordPress 2.7 or later.

Like WordPress, WordPress for Android 1.3.8 is released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). Users interested in contributing to the application are encouraged to do so via the WordPress for Android project developer portal.
