SystemRescueCD logo The SystemRescueCd and GParted Live developers have each released new versions of their Linux distributions for administering and repairing systems. Both of updated distributions include the recent 0.11.0 release of the open source GParted partition editor and new kernels, as well as other changes and package updates.

Version 2.4.1 of SystemRescueCd has had its standard kernel upgraded to 3.0.13, while the alternative kernel has been upgraded to the more leading edge Linux 3.1.5 release. Package updates include a new version of the XFS filesystem tools, the current stable release of the btrfs-progs utilities for the Btrfs filesystem, and version 8.0 of the Firefox web browser.

GParted logo GParted Live 0.11.0-2 is based on the unstable branch of Debian, known as "Sid", from 14 December and the 3.1.5-1 Linux kernel. The NTFS-3G read/write driver has been updated to 2011.10.9AR.1-3 and the GRUB  boot loader has been replaced with GRUB 2.

More details about the updates can be found in the change logs for SystemRescueCd 2.4.1 (download) and GParted Live 0.11.0-2 (download). Both SystemRescueCd and GParted Live are hosted on SourceForge and licensed under the GPLv2.
