Sun Microsystems has presented version 6 of its Java Composite Application Platform Suite (Java CAPS). The Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and integration application allows developers to hook independent composite applications into the technical infrastructure. Java CAPS is an open source product maintained by the Open ESB community. ESB stand for Enterprise Service Bus.

Java CAPS 6 includes the ESB suite, which is based on Open ESB and the JBI (Java Business Integration) specification. It also includes IEP (Intelligent Event Processor), which is intended to recognise complex patterns of events and initiate a suitable reaction, and a business process management component. Free application server Glassfish and the Netbeans development platform are also supported. GlassFish now offers a connection to composite applications in the .Net framework. Sun continues to publish a Master Data Management Suite (MDM) in this segment, intended to offer users a uniform view of customer data.

Interested users can subscribe to Java CAPS, the MDM suite and the ESB suite via a subscription model or permanently. Details of the products can be found on the relevant Sun Microsystems information website.
