Resara LLC has announced that it is ending business operations. Resara LLC has been producing Resara Server, a Linux based server which provided an Active Directory compatible domain controller on a Windows network. It also produced a community version of Resara Server which it distributed at resara.org, but the community edition omitted features from the commercial version.

With the ending of operations, the company says that it plans to release all versions of Resara Server as open source over the coming months. It also hopes that the open source release will allow the community "to thrive". The "abrupt and unexpected announcement" is, says Resara, because of "significant financial and personnel challenges" which meant that the company had to close. Commercial customers will find their software will remain functional, but there will only be a single staff member answering support calls till 27 July. The company founders will be maintaining the community site and forums as time allows.
