Red Hat Logo Linux distributor Red Hat has announced that it is expanding its cloud services offering. Together with Amazon, Red Hat's first Premier Certified Cloud Provider, the company is extending users' Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscriptions into the cloud using Amazon Web Services (AWS). With Red Hat Cloud Access, customers can now move their RHEL subscriptions between both standard servers and AWS, without needing licensing or support model changes.

According to Red Hat, the latest versions of RHEL will be available on Amazon EC2 at the same time as the traditional releases. Both standardised 32 and 64-bit versions will be available. Scott Crenshaw, Vice President and General Manager for the Cloud Business Unit at Red Hat, said that, "Red Hat brings enterprise-class software, subscriptions and support capabilities all built into a business model that was designed specifically for the cloud," adding that, "With Red Hat Cloud Access, our enterprise customers can run their applications on the type of server capacity that best suits their needs: physical, virtual on-premise or in Amazon Web Services."
