NetBSD logo Following March's release of the first beta of NetBSD 6.0, the developers have now announced their second and final beta. Among the changes in the second beta are an update of the pcc C compiler, OpenSSL fixes, and "many fixes" for building with the clang compiler.

The developers have made Beta 2 available to download, with ISO images for AMD64 and i386, Amazon EC2 machine images, and xva files for Citrix XenServer and Xen Cloud Platform.

The first release candidate of NetBSD 6.0 is expected "late June/early July" by the developers. In the meantime, the developers encourage interested users to test the changes and report any problems they find. Beta software is not recommended for production use; the most recent stable version of NetBSD is 5.1.2, released in February 2012, is available for download.
