JMeter logo Version 2.7 of Apache JMeter has arrived, adding new system sampling for operating system processes, improved JMS, WebService and Test samplers, and improved graphs and reports. JMeter is a desktop application designed to load test applications and measure performance; it can test web, SOAP, JDBC, LDAP, JMS, Mail or native commands using its multi-threaded framework to concurrently sample many different operations.

Among the highlights of version 2.7, a new OS Process Sampler allows commands to be executed on the local machine and captures their output for later analysis. The JMS sampler is now able to use non-persistent delivery and supports sending XStream serialised messages. The Test Action sample now caters for premature loop exits while the WebService sample allows control over the size of its document cache.

Reporting has been improved with the Aggregate Graph switching to a clustered bar chart with columns showing median, average, the "90% line", min and max; the new graph style also has extra configuration for these new options. The HTML report generated by JMeter's Ant task has also been improved. Other enhancements include support for authentication in the Mailer Visualizer, new indications of error/fatal messages in the log viewer and new various enhancements for plugin writers.

JMeter is a pure Java application which can be downloaded from Apache project mirror sites. As an Apache project, JMeter is licensed under the Apache 2.0 licence.
