Version 3.6.1 of LibreOffice is now available and fixes more than 90 bugs found in the 3.6 release of the open source productivity suite from earlier this month. These include fixes for problems that caused the application to crash when, for example, closing the Report Wizard, hiding sections in the Writer word processor, saving some ODS files as XLS and on Mac OS X when accessibility options are enabled. Bugs related to ODF and RTF import, and data loss problems have also been fixed.

In order to further improve the stability of future releases, the developers launched a new "LibreOffice HardHacks" initiative last week to take on the harder bugs in the office suite's code. With the new program, the team hope to find and fix the most critical bugs that need attention on a more regular basis.

More details about this maintenance update, including a full list of changes and fixes, can be found in the RC1 and RC2 change logs. LibreOffice 3.6.1 is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux from the project's download page. The new version is also available from The H's Downloads section.
