LibreOffice logo The Document Foundation has released version 3.6.3 of LibreOffice to fix more than 90 bugs in its open source productivity suite. These include fixes for layout problems, overflowing margins, a regression in chart complex category placements, and issues when importing and exporting ODF documents. Several problems that caused the application to crash when, or example, deleting the latest cell in a table, importing tables from .docx files or following an incomplete print have also been corrected.

A number of the fixes in the third maintenance update to the 3.6.x branch are the result of the organisation's recent Hard Hacks initiative, first announced in August. The program is designed to help the project take on difficult bugs in the software's code by finding and fixing the most critical issues that need attention. In a blog post, Document Foundation board member and developer Björn Michaelsen provides an update on the initiative and names the top "HardHack solvers" and bug-wranglers for October.

Further information about the maintenance update, including a full list of fixes and enhancements, can be found in the RC1 and RC2 change logs. Licensed under the LGPLv3, binaries of LibreOffice 3.6.3 for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, as well as source code, are available from the project's download page.

On the same day as the new release, Florian Effenberger, Chairman of the Board at The Document Foundation, has asked users to help support the organisation financially by donating towards its 2013 budget. "The amount of donations coming in until the end of this year will define our budget for 2013. This determines what TDF can do and achieve next year," said Effenberger. On the LibreOffice donations page, users can send money using a credit or debit card, PayPal, Flattr or even a bank transfer.
