Alfresco announce Alfresco Labs 3.0 final

Alfresco has announced that they have released a final stable version of Alfresco Labs 3.0, the open source enterprise content management system. New features that were included in the beta version and now declared stable, include the Alfresco Web Studio, Alfresco SURF, CMIS support and native SharePoint protocol support.

Alfresco Web Studio is a drag and drop environment for creating end user sites, hosted on the Alfresco platform. Alfresco SURF is an Ajax enabled Web UI framework which was used to create Alfresco Web Studio. CMIS (Content Management Interoperability Services), introduced in September 2008, is a protocol designed to allow the interoperation of content management systems.

A Joomla! interface, which uses the CMIS support, is also included in the release. The native SharePoint support, announced in August 2008, allows Microsoft Office users to use an Alfresco content repository as if it was a SharePoint server. Alfresco Labs 3.0 also includes MediaWiki and OpenOffice.org integration.

Alfresco Labs 3.0 Stable is licensed under the GPL and available to download from the Alfresco site. Alfresco also produce Alfresco Enterprise, based on the Alfresco Labs code, for which they offer trial editions and a subscription support model.
