Alfresco Enterprise Edition 3.3 announced
Alfresco has announced the availability of version 3.3 of the Enterprise Edition of its content management system (ECMS). Discussing the latest release, Alfresco co-founder and CTO John Newton said that, “The latest iteration of Alfresco Enterprise extends the platform’s content services, enabling organisations to deploy composite content applications to support their business requirements.”
Like the version 3.3 of the company's open source Community Edition, Alfresco Enterprise Edition 3.3 implements version 1.0 of the OASIS Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS). CMIS is a specification which aims to deliver a common interface using either REST or Web Services. The release provides content services for IBM Lotus social software, Microsoft Outlook, Google Docs and Drupal, and includes the addition of a Web Editor Framework (WEF) for inline content editing services, and updated document and web content management (WCM) functionality.
More details about version 3.3 of the Enterprise Edition are available on the what's new page and in a press release from Alfresco. A free 30 day trial of Alfresco Enterprise Edition 3.3 is available to download from the company's site. Version 3.3 of the LGPL licensed community edition was released in mid-April.
