Alfresco Logo Alfresco has announced that it will be showing a "proof-of-concept" integration between its enterprise content system and a range of Lotus products at the Lotusphere developer conference being held in Orlando between the 17th and 21st of January. The integration works with Lotus Quickr, Lotus Notes, Lotus Connections and the IBM Websphere Portal. It allows for content within Quickr or Notes to be moved or copied to the Alfresco ECM system; when content is moved, a link is left in Lotus system allowing users to quickly retrieve migrated content. When content is moved or copied, it can also trigger Alfresco's rules and policies for content management.

Alfresco was approached by IBM to engage in a technical feasibility exercise, and in collaboration with IBM has produced the new integration which uses Alfresco's CMIS and Lotus's Notes APIs to bring the two systems together. The integration expands the range of connection options to the Alfresco ECM which already includes support such as an implementation of Microsoft's SharePoint Protocol for seamless connections from Microsoft Office, WebDav, IMAP, SMTP, CIFS and CMIS. Paul Hampton, Product Marketing Director at Alfresco told the H that the initial integration will be open sourced within weeks and will be released in product form as Alfresco Content Services for Lotus, available in the Spring. The Lotus integration works with Alfresco Labs 3.2 or the recently released Alfresco Enterprise Edition 3.2.
