Dasient logo Twitter has acquired security services provider Dasient. The Dasient technology and team will become part of the "revenue engineering team" at the microblogging service. In a post on its blog, Dasient says that, because of that and as part of the merger, it will be "winding down its business" and no longer accepting new customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed by either company.

Dasient was founded in 2008 by former Google employees. The following year it launched an anti-malware platform for scanning URLs and sites for malicious content. In 2010, the company launched what it calls "the industry’s first anti-malvertising service" designed to protect advertising networks and publishers from malicious ads. TechCrunch speculates that the expertise offered by Dasient staff will be used to protect Twitter's current and future advertising offerings.
