Sun Microsystems have released VirtualBox 2.1.4, a bug fix and maintenance release of the open source desktop virtualisation system. The new release includes stability and performance improvements and several bug fixes. A bug where the host crashes/hangs on certain 32 bit Windows systems when running a Linux guest, has now been fixed. Fixed too is the occasional file corruption when writing files in O_APPEND mode to a shared folder on Linux. Three GUI fixes, four NAT fixes and two USB fixes are also included in the release.

Fixes to the Windows Additions include removing a hang when Windows Explorer browsed shared folders with 64 bit guests and the removal of guest screen distortions which occured when a video mode change took place. The installer for openSUSE 11.1 now works properly. The full changelog details all the differences. VirtualBox 2.1.4 is available to download for Windows, OS X, Linux, Solaris and OpenSolaris.
