Sales decline at Novell
In the recent third quarter of its fiscal year, Linux distributor Novell saw a decline from £245 in net revenue in the third quarter of 2008 to just $216 million. According to its financial result report
, Novell reported $40 million from Open Platform Solutions, of which $38 million came from its Linux Platform Products, showing a growth of 22 per cent compared to the same time last year. The company has confirmed that it's $16.6 million in the black, compared to a loss of $15.1 million one year ago.
Product revenue from Identity, Access and Compliance Management products declined by 16 per cent to $28 million. Systems and Resource Management revenue came in at $40 million, down 15 per cent compared to last year, and sales of workgroup products declined by 12 per cent, coming in at $81 million. While the companies sales have followed a trend similar of that to other companies, Ron Hovsepian, President and CEO of Novell said Novell's "operating margin continued to expand year-over-year due to diligent expense management".
