Apache POI - The Apache POI team announced POI version 3.5 beta 3, the latest version of the Java library for reading and writing OLE2 formats. POI 3.5 implements the ability to read the OOXML formats introduced in Microsoft Office 2007. There were issues surrounding this work which recently resolved when Microsoft clarified its licensing policies and joined the Apache Foundation. POI 3.5 beta 3 is the first release of POI since that resolution. The POI team also mention that POI 3.2 is forthcoming, for those developers who don't need to access OOXML.

Apache Continuum - Continuum, a continuous build integration tool for Java projects, has been updated to version 1.2. Continuum integrates with Maven, Ant and other build mechanisms, source code management system and manages automated builds with alerting via mail or instant messenger when a problem with the build occurs. Continuum 1.2's major change is internal; it now uses Spring as its container, a change made to improve performance and stability in the web application. Also added is the ability to purge repositories, to clean up after builds, and now supports git and accurev source code control.
