Parallels Logo As the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit approaches, the Linux Foundation has announced another new member, this time Parallels, provider of virtualisation and automation software. Parallels is among the top ten Linux kernel contributors and sponsors the container-based Open-VZ virtualisation project which it bases its Virtuzzo Containers commercial offering.

Parallels were recently in the news after its CEO made negative comments about open source, comments which were later apologised for. Jack Zubarev, president of marketing at Parallels explained that "Linux is a key component of our business strategy, which is why we’ve been an active contributor to the Linux kernel and today are affirming Parallels’ continued commitment to the platform". Parallel's Project Manager Kirill Kolyshkin will be presenting “Containers and Namespaces in the Linux Kernel” at the upcoming Summit which runs from April 14th to the 16th in San Francisco.
