  • You may think that there are just more patents about but did you know they are getting bigger? The Patently-O blog did and has found that since 2008, the average patent has become 10 per cent bigger. Since 2004, the average patent has risen from just under forty thousand characters to just under fifty thousand. It appears that the bigger the patent application is, the more likely it is to be granted.
  • Getting a well known name on your advisory board is always useful, not only for the advice but also for the visibility. The Free Network Foundation has announced that Richard Stallman has joined their advisory board. "His willingness to aid our cause is humbling, and his advice is full of careful and valuable insight", said the foundation that is currently creating a community laboratory in Kansas city and designs network technology "that can be used to build freer networks".
  • The Vivaldi tablet, formerly known as "Spark", has got a last minute upgrade. According to a blog posting by project lead Aaron Siego, the KDE running tablet will now come with 1GB of RAM rather than the previously planned 512MB. Shipments of the tablet are expected in the near future.
