KeePass Logo The KeePass development team has released version 1.19 of its open source password manager for Windows. According to the developers, the latest stable version of KeePass, winner of InfoWorld's 2009 Bossies (Best of Open Source Software Awards) in the category of Security, introduces several new features and improvements.

KeePass 1.19 features enhancements to key file / provider management, such as an option to remember key sources which is enabled by default, and a new locking timer. Lock files are now hidden and, on Windows 7, the main window peek preview is disabled when the KeePass workspace is locked. Other changes include an upgraded installer and better user-friendliness in UAC dialogues, as well as other various code optimisations and minor improvements. The developers encourage all users to upgrade to the latest version.

Details about the release, including a full list of new features, can be found in the official release announcement and in the change log. KeePass 1.19 is available to download for Windows 98 or later from one of the project's mirrors. KeePass source code is hosted on SourceForge and is licensed under the GPL.
