Clonezilla logo The Clonezilla development team has released version 1.2.8-23 of its Clonezilla Live distribution. Clonezilla is an open source clone system and is designed for hard disk partitioning and duplicating. It has a range of features which the developers say are similar to those of Symantec Ghost Corporate Edition and Partimage,

According to developer Steven Shiau, who also works on GParted partition editor, the new stable release includes several "major enhancements" and changes. The Clonezilla Live update is based on the unstable branch of Debian, known as "Sid", from 28 March and features the latest 2.6.38 Linux kernel and a number of package updates, such as version 4.20 of the Memtest86+ tool.

Other changes include language file updates, the addition of a mechanism to check if a saved image is restorable and fixes for various bugs. The Partclone partition image utility has also been updated to version 0.2.22 and two new packages (disktype and the ufsutils utilities for UFS filesystems) were added. All users are encouraged to upgrade.

Further information about the latest stable update can be found in the official release announcement and in the change log. Clonezilla Live 1.2.8-23 is available under a GPL licence and can be downloaded as an ISO image file from SourceForge.
