Google I/O 2011 conference sells out within an hour

Google IO Tickets for this year's Google I/O developer conference sold out in less than one hour after registration opened. According to Google VP of Engineering, Vic Gundotra, by comparison, in 2009 and 2010 it took 90 and 50 days respectively for all of the tickets to the event to be sold.

Standard registration for Google I/O 2011 was priced at $550 and an early bird price of $450 was offered until 16 April, while students and academic faculties could register for $150. A total of 5,500 people are expected to attend the 2011 developer confernece.

Google I/O 2011 will take place on 10 and 11 May at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The main event will be preceded by an I/O BootCamp on the 9th; this is focused on getting developers ready for the conference and will include beginner-level lectures and hands-on lab sessions.
