Google IO 2011 Logo This year's Google I/O developer conference will include sessions on Android application development for the Google TV platform, originally announced at last year's event, and Android 3.0 "Honeycomb". Google I/O 2011 will take place on 10 and 11 May at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The main event will be preceded by an I/O BootCamp on the 9th focused on getting developers ready for the conference; this will include beginner-level lectures and hands-on lab sessions.

Among the published tracks, "Building Web Apps for Google TV" and "Building Android Apps for Google TV" will provide developers with an opportunity to learn more about the Android-based TV platform, as well as how to build both web and Android applications targeted at the devices. Android-specific tracks include sessions focusing on the design and implementation of Android UIs for phones and tablets, the Android Market, Android development tools and Honeycomb, including its new features, capabilities and APIs.

Other sessions include program development using the Native Client SDK, storage of data in Google's cloud, the Google plugin for Eclipse 2.3, as well as an in-depth look at the Google Web Toolkit (GWT) – a fireside chat with the GWT team will also take place at the conference to discuss new features and answer developer questions. Googlers will be also looking at the Chrome Web Store, Google App Engine, OpenID and OAuth2, HTML5 and the Maps API.

A full list of conference sessions is available on the Google I/O 2011 site. Standard registration for Google I/O 2011 costs $550 and an early bird price of $450 is available until 16 April, while students and academic faculties can register for $150. However, registration has not yet opened. For updates and more information on Google I/O, @googleio can be followed on Twitter.
