Registration opens for Google I/O 2010
Google Engineering Director David Glazer has announced that registration for this year's Google I/O developer conference is now open. Google I/O 2010 will take place on the 19th and the 20th of May, 2010 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The organisers say that, in addition to various Google products, such as App Engine, Google Web Toolkit, Android and Chrome, the Google I/O developer conference will focus on "pushing the boundaries of web applications through open web technologies".
Registration costs $500, however, an early bird price of $400 is available until the 16th of April. Students and academic faculty can register for $100, but Glazer notes that the discounted rate is limited and provided "on a first come, first serve basis". As last year's Google I/O sold out before the start of the conference, Glazer encourages those interested in attending to register as soon as possible. A conference schedule and a list of confirmed sessions has also been posted to the Google I/O site.
According to Google, around 3,000 developers from more than 45 countries attended the 2009 Google I/O conference, where the company's new communication and collaboration product, Google Wave, was first previewed for developers. The 2009 keynote address was delivered by Google CEO Eric Schmidt along with Google Vice President of Engineering Vic Gundotra. Keynote videos (day 1 and day 2 ) and a highlight video from Google I/O 2009 are available on YouTube.
