Google Dev channel reaches version 12
The Google Chrome development team has released version 12.0.712.0 of its WebKit-based web browser into the Chrome developer channel (also known as the Dev channel). According to the developers, the first 12.x branch release "contains lots of behind the scenes work (code cleanup and refactorings)".
Aimed at developers and early adopters and not recommended for production use, version 12.0.712.0 of Chrome features support for Tab Multi-Select, allowing users to select multiple tabs using the ctrl key and then apply actions such as reload to all of them. On Mac OS X, new and improved bookmark animations have also been added. Other changes include upgrading the V8 JavaScript engine toi version 3.2.3.1, and fixes for various regressions and crashing bugs.
Further details about the developer channel release can be found in a post on the Google Chrome Releases blog by Chrome Program Manager Anthony Laforge. Chrome 12.0.712.0 is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux from dev.chromium.org. Alternatively, current Dev channel users can use the built-in update function by clicking Tools, selecting About Google Chrome and clicking the Update button.
The latest stable branch of Chrome is version 10. Chrome 11.x, the previous Dev channel branch of Chrome, went into the company's Beta channel just three days ago and sporting Chrome's brand new logo.
