Chrome 13 arrives in Dev channel

Chrome 13's Print Preview screen on Mac OS X. The Google Chrome development team has published version 13.0.767.1 of its WebKit-based web browser into the Chrome developer channel (also known as the Dev channel). According to Chrome Program Manager Anthony Laforge, the first 13.x branch release includes further work on Print Preview and improvements to Omnibox (address bar) string matching. According to comments on the release announcement, Omnibox string matching is still very slow on Mac OS X and Windows 7 systems.

On Linux systems, support for Ubuntu 8.04 LTS "Hardy Heron" has been discontinued – desktop versions of Hardy Heron officially reached their end of life on 12 May. As with all development releases, use in production environments and on mission critical systems is not advised. Users testing the release are encouraged to provide feedback and report any bugs that they find.

Chrome 13.0.767.1 is available to download from dev.chromium.org for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Current Dev channel users can use the built-in update function by clicking Tools, selecting About Google Chrome and clicking the Update button.

The latest stable branch of Chrome is version 11 from late April. Chrome 12, the previous Dev channel branch of Chrome, went into the company's Beta channel just over a week ago with new Flash cookie protection features.
