Black Duck Software Logo Open source specialist Black Duck Software has announced that it has acquired the Olliance Group, an independent open source business and strategy consulting firm. According to Black Duck, Olliance Group will operate as an independent business unit with autonomy. Olliance Group founder Andrew Aitken and Senior Partner Greg Olsen will join Black Duck – Aitken will serve as General Manager of the Olliance Group business unit.

Discussing the announcement, Black Duck Software CEO and President Tim Yeaton said: "Black Duck has seen rapid growth since its founding in 2002, with a significant surge in sales and revenue in the past 18 months," adding that, "This growth has fueled our new investments and acquisitions, which have been undertaken to increase the value of Black Duck’s end-to-end offerings while supporting the adoption of free and open source software (FOSS) among enterprise IT and community developers."

Black Duck's latest acquisition is the company's third in the past few months. In November, it bought application development software tools and services provider SpikeSource and, in October, it purchased the Free and Open Source (FOSS) software directory site from Geeknet, formerly known as SourceForge Inc.

Further information about the acquisition can be found in the official press release. Additional details of the acquisition, including the financial terms of the deal, were not disclosed.
