Selected events in the UK and elsewhere in January

The H Community Calendar presents the coming month's events in various open source, development, Linux, Unix and other communities, from multi-day conferences to user group get-togethers.

3rd 3 January - PHP - London SE1

Who: PHP London
What:
PHP London meetup – Lightning talks. Five minutes talking with two minutes of questions on any subject that will be of general interest to the community.

8th 8 January - Ajax - London EC1V

Who: London Ajax User Group
What:
User group meeting – The topic for January is JavaScript data querying. Thomas Bradford will be giving a talk about Objeq, and the topic in general. A second talk has yet to be confirmed.

9th 9 January - Linux - Reading

Who: Silicon Corridor Linux User Group
What:
A regular social evening for Linux users in the Reading area.

14 January - Ruby - London EC1V

Who: London Ruby User Group
What:
Regular monthly meetup – LRUG will be kicking off the new year with a "pub quiz" at Skills Matter, complete with prizes for the winning teams. After the quiz, the meetup will continue in the pub.

What:
LGGUG user group meetup – another opportunity to get some Groovy coding practice and look at ways to solve different programming problems.

Who: CouchDB
What:
CouchDB Conf Berlin – a one-day conference and a two-day Barcamp/Hackathon for the CouchDB community by the CouchDB community.

26th - 27th 26-27 January 2013 - Hack Day - Oxford

Who: NHS Hack Day
What:
NHS Hack Day – a weekend event that brings together doctors, nurses, developers, designers, and other "geeks who love the NHS" to create disruptive solutions to problems in the health space.

29th 29 January - Data - London

Who: Big Data London
What:
Big Data London meetup – the 15th Big Data London meetup will take place at the end of the first day of Cloud Expo Europe.

30th 30 January 2013 - Python - London WC1B

Intermediate Python training – a full-day tutorial for people who have experience in programming, but have just "picked up" Python and want to understand how it works.

Raspberry Jamboree 2013 – Raspberry Jam is the global user group for anyone with an interest in the Raspberry Pi computer and the aim of the Raspberry Jamboree is to focus on the impact that this low-cost computer is having on education and its potential.
