Selected events in the UK and elsewhere in June
The H Community Calendar presents details of the coming month's events – along with advance notification of larger events later in the year – in various open source, development, Linux, Unix and other communities, from multi-day conferences to user group get-togethers.

1 June - Barcamp - Birmingham
Who: Floss UK
What: Barcamp Birmingham – a bar camp conference where what happens is organised by the delegates on the day. The event organisers arrange the venue, but the rest is down to the delegates.

6 June - Perl - London SE1
Who: London Perl Mongers
What: London.pm Social – regular monthly social meeting. This month the meeting returns to the Bridge House just to the south of Tower Bridge.

Who: London Java Community
What: Java Development Testing – a technical and interactive presentation from Coverity on how ‘Development Testing’ is addressing the ever changing landscape of software delivery.

What: PHP "PubCon" – regular monthly meeting, this month with lightning talks.

Who: London Scala Users' Group
What: Hack the Tower – another chance to hack with the London Scala community and the wider software development community. Join in with existing projects or build your own.

10 June - Ruby - London EC1V NEW
Who: London Ruby User Group
What: Regular monthly meetup – after "State Transitions Are People Too" from JB Steadman, and "Application Example based on Gov.uk public code" from Jairo Diaz, the meetup will continue in informal fashion in the pub.

11 June - Atlassian - London W1S
Who: UK Atlassian Community
What: London Atlassian Social – a regular informal social evening, every 2nd month between the main events. Most of the evening will be spent having ad-hoc informal discussions in small groups and discussing the latest Atlassian news.

Who: London Java Community
What: Java Native Interface with Eclipse and Android – Jeff Lawson will deliver a how-to presentation with broad and detailed coverage of JNI across all platforms and specifically for the Android NDK.

What: A regular social evening for Linux users in the Reading area.

Who: Hacks/Hackers Brighton
What: Hacks and Hackers Meetup – Libby Powell, director of Radar and freelance journalist, will talk about using mobile tools to engage the world's hardest-to-reach communities, with case studies from Sierra Leone, Kenya and India.

What: State of the Map 2013 – the 7th edition of the official OpenStreetMap conference State of the Map (SotM).
