Selected events in the UK and elsewhere in December
The H Community Calendar presents the coming month's events in various open source, development, Linux, Unix and other communities, from multi-day conferences to user group get-togethers.

1 December - Raspberry Pi - Leeds
Who: CPC & LeedsHack
What: The CPC Pi Hack – a 24 hour challenge which will see 100 competitors, working as either individuals or teams, pitted against each other as they attempt to build something great while incorporating Raspberry Pi.

What: User group meeting – informal meetup with discussions on aspects of search technology.

4 December - R - London EC3V
Who: LondonR
What: LondonR User Group Meeting – an "Introduction to Lattice" workshop will be followed by three presentations: "R as a Web Service: Getting R and D3 talking JSON", "Using Lattice to plot grouped data" and "Producing Animated Graphs from R without having learn any other software".

What: PHP "PubCon" – regular monthly social meeting, which, this month, includes a talk on "Using Vagrant, Chef and Virtual Box in Your Development Environment" by Jeremy Quinton.

What: London.pm Social – regular monthly social meeting.

7 December - Firefox OS - London WC2N
Who: Firefox OS meetup group
What: Firefox OS meetup – "Getting Started with Firefox OS" is all about getting hands on with FireFoxOS and hopefully making your first FireFoxOS application.

8 December - Linux - London WC2N
Who: Greater London Linux User Group
What: Greater London LUG meetup – open for anyone to attend, especially to those interested in Linux, Android, Free software, open hardware and anything related to free software and its culture. Note: this event starts at 12:30pm.

What: Hack the Tower – all those interested in functional programming, play framework, MongoDB, Neo4j, Heroku & Force.com are invited to either join in building the new LSug community web site or work on any other web application or service.
