The latest release of the dotCover code coverage application from JetBrains incorporates a unit test runner where earlier versions were dependent on the ReSharper tool. dotCover 2.0 also includes the ability to filter code marked with specific attributes and a shortcut to locate code within the coverage tree. The new release has also added support for Visual Studio 2012 RC with support for the final version expected as soon as it is released by Microsoft.

dotCover, which started its life as a ReSharper extension, has matured into a fully-fledged tool in its own right which helps .NET developers maintain test coverage of their code. Supported test engines are NUnit and MSTest, plugins for xUnit and MSpec are available. Aside from support for the latest release candidate of Visual Studio, the application also works with Visual Studio 2005, 2008 and 2010.

The tool is can be downloaded free of charge as a 30 day evaluation version. An individual developer licence costs $75 (approximately £47) while a commercial licence for an organisation is available for $149 (£95). dotCover is being used by Deutsche Bank, Nokia, Siemens and EMI among other companies.
