Dell to acquire SecureWorks
Computer manufacturer Dell has announced that it is acquiring the security company SecureWorks. A leading Security-as-a-Service solution provider, SecureWorks offers services ranging from Managed-Security Services to Security and Risk Consulting Services, as well as Threat Intelligence.
Discussing the announcement, Dell Services President Peter Altabef said that, "SecureWorks is a recognized industry leader in information security services and its offerings and expertise will immediately enhance our solutions portfolio," adding that, "We look forward to welcoming SecureWorks team members – who bring their passion and dedication to serving clients with best-in-class security services – to Dell and our clients."
The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close in "early 2011" following customary closing conditions.
Originally founded in 1999, SecureWorks is based in Atlanta, Georgia and currently employs approximately 700 people. The company has clients in 70 countries around the world, including more than 15% of Fortune 500 companies, and has a projected 2010 fiscal year revenue of over $120 million.
