The Apache AxKit project has announced it has discontinued development of the AxKit XML application server due to inactivity. AxKit, a sub-project of the Apache XML project, provided on-the fly conversion of XML into formats such as HTML, Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) using W3C standard techniques, or by using custom code transformations; it used a built in Perl interpreter to run the XML transformations.

The AxKit code is moving to the Apache Attic, created in November 2008 as a final resting place for Apache projects that have come to the end of their life cycle. AxKit joins the previously retired projects Shale and HiveMind in the Attic.
