Apache Beehive framework now a has-bee-n

The developers of the Apache Beehive project have announced that Beehive has been retired to the Apache Attic, where Apache projects are placed for preservation. The Beehive Java application framework had its origins in the runtime applications framework in BEA Systems's Weblogic. BEA later decided to donate the code to the Apache Project to gain a wider audience in 2005. The last release of Beehive, version 1.0.2 was in 2006, and in 2008 BEA was acquired by Oracle where the project has been left in a maintenance mode.

The Apache Attic page for Beehive does direct any users of the Beehive technology to alternatives. Users of the Beehive NetUI/Page Flow components are pointed at Struts 2 or Spring Web Flow, Beehive Controls users should look at Spring Beans and use of the Beehive WSM (web service metadata) could be replaced by Axis2's JSR181 implementation. As with all projects moved to the Attic, the code is still available and the attic maintainers ask to be notified if a fork of the code is created
