Spring Roo logo The Spring Roo development team has released the second maintenance update to the 1.2 branch of its open source rapid application development tool for creating Java applications. Version 1.2.2 of Spring Roo includes support for Spring Framework 3.1.1 and version 7 of the Java Development Kit (JDK), and fixes for nearly 40 bugs.

These bugs include a stack overflow when testing one-to-one relations and a naming conflict, as well as issues that could result in build failure or compile errors. According to Project Lead Alan Stewart, the update also adds a new tailor add-on which was provided by its partner Accenture. Tailor allows developers to coordinate their usage of Roo so that when any Roo command is issued the add-on "tailors" the command according to selectively activated groups of rules in the tailor configuration files.

Further information about the update, including a full list of fixes, can be found in the release notes and in the updated documentation. Spring Roo 1.2.2 is available from the Community Downloads page. Spring Roo is developed by SpringSource, a division of VMware, and is licensed under the Apache Licence 2.0.
