Sun Microsystems has announced a new download location for the developer builds, release candidates and beta versions of OpenOffice.org, the free and open source productivity suite. The new download page simplifies public access to the development builds and can be reached via a new menu selection on the current main download site for the newest stable releases.

Some advantages to the new location include, users only needing to know a single URL for downloading unstable releases, the new page has same look and feel as the main download site and URLs no longer have any dependencies on version numbers in the links.

The current development build of OpenOffice 3.1 (m2) has now been posted to the site and is available for download. A full list of changes and updates can be found in the release notes.
