OpenOffice.org has released the second beta of OpenOffice 3.0, aiming to release 3.0 in September. OpenOffice says this release is "made available to allow a broad user base to test and evaluate the next major version of OpenOffice.org" but does not recommend it for production use.

The second beta consolidates the new functionality that appeared in the first beta and doesn't add any new features.

Compiled packages for Linux and 64 bit Linux (as rpm and deb files), Solaris on Sparc and x86, Windows and Mac OSX on x86 are available to download at the OpenOffice Beta page, with source code packages also available. The package ranges from 135MB to 182MB in size depending on platform.
