NTFS-3G merges with ntfsprogs
Tuxera has updated and combined together two projects: NTFS-3G, its own NTFS driver for Linux, Android, Mac OS X, and other operating systems, and, ntfsprogs, the open source set of tools for Microsoft's NTFS. As the tools make a natural complement to NTFS-3G they are often bundled together in Linux distributions. According to the announcement, Tuxera is therefore adding the tools to its NTFS driver in order to avoid duplication of effort in the maintenance of the large codebase, and, so that "development can focus on enhanced functionality, reliability, and interoperability in the future."
ntfsprogs contains utilities for creating, copying, restoring and comparing NTFS volumes; also for resizing and other functions. In creating this merged release, Tuxera has fixed many bugs in both its own NTFS-3G driver and in about half of the utilities in the ntfsprogs collection.
